Dr. Richard Wagner was invited to give an update on dyslexia and the new NICHD Centers to school psychology administrators and other members of the leadership team of the Los Angles Unified School District on October 27, 2017.
The Florida Learning Disabilities Research Center (FLDRC) is one of three federally funded LDRC projects. The projects are designed to broaden the scientific and practical understanding of learning disabilities and comorbid (co-occurring) conditions. The projects are funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
Florida State holds the grant for one of the centers. The FLDRC project includes researchers from Florida State University, Haskins Laboratories Inc., University of California at Irvine, Yale University, University of California at San Francisco, Vanderbilt, University of Oregon, University of Washington, Purdue, Bryn Mawr College, University of Texas at Austin, University of Wisconsin, University of Pennsylvania, Southern Methodist University and the New York State Office on Mental Health.
There are two other centers. These are The Colorado Learning Disabilities Research Center at the University of Colorado -- Boulder and The Texas Center for Learning Disabilities at the University of Houston.
The FLDRC is in its third cycle of NIH funding. The Center has six Projects and three Cores. The six projects are defined under the Projects section. The current publications for the projects are also included under the section titled Publications.
